Love this, Ulysses! What kind of berries did you use? I’ve made Nocino from green black walnuts. I also tried making pear liqueur from my pear tree fruit but I didn’t like how it turned out.
Meat preservation sounds so cool. I bet it’s delicious 😋
I just do fruit and vegetable ferments and sourdough...oh and kombucha. Used to do yogurt and kefir but that was a while back. I’m the only one who likes it!
I'm a big fan of food preservation. It's one of my active interests. I love canning, dehydrating and curing/drying. Also have made liqueurs from local berries.
I have several pounds of meat i have cured at home and many many jars of preserves and dehydrated goods all made at home.
We display our goods in the pantry using the colors to organize them and make it all pretty like.
It's so exciting to open something years later and remember the care I put into it.
Both of my grandmothers canned all summer. Lots of chicken, but also beef and pork. It was all they had to eat until the next harvest. I've canned too and I'm glad I know how to do it. The more independent I am the better I sleep at night.
"the days are just starting to get noticeably longer which reminded me that the blahs are only temporary and it won’t be long before my creative art-making powers return in full!" And what a delicious way to cope until then, great work! Hope you're all feeling revived soon :)
That's a good read Ms Cynthia. It has been cold and dreary here, but nothing like what you're enduring there. I am grateful for food and shelter and my cat family.
You may be sick of making things from lemons but the latest issue of Spectator magazine has a recipe for Shaker Lemon Pie. Shaker Lemon Pie uses the entire lemon (except for the seeds). They suggest Meyer lemons but it can be made with regular ones. The pie also has a top pie crust which in addition to the marmalade like filling, your average lemon pie doesn't.
Ooooh! I love lemons, that sounds delicious! I’m not sick of lemons, only out of lemons at the moment. I had an enormous bag of Meyer lemons that needed to be used up; so I did. We still have half a cheesecake to eat, so probably a good thing I don’t have any more lemons right now 🤣
Oh, that after-holiday funk. I have felt it, too, have really had to drive myself to get ANY writing done. As you said, it will eventually pass... I hope! 😉
Awesome! One of my favorite things to do is cook. Beyond the usual "guy" cooking of grilling and smoking barbecue I love making soups and stews. And winter always is the perfect time to do that.
I never got in to baking, though...the few times I've tried it resulted in disaster!😂

Thank you Sydney, somehow making food is the easier, creative win!

Blessings to you!
Thank you Tom, nice to hear from you ☺️

Today is Pi day too!
I hope it's not March 14.
What’s March 14? Beside National popcorn lovers day and potato chip day? 🤔
Pi day. 3.14
Oh duh...🤪🤣

Wonderful piece ☺️
Thank you Stone, I struggled to write it this morning!

Yeah, baking can be really frustrating!
