Happy New Year to everyone and happy 9th day of Christmas for all of you who mark the 12 Days of Christmas! I want to welcome all of my new subscribers and a big thank you to everyone who has been with me since I started this ‘stack in April of 23. Hopefully I’ll be able to keep posting items of interest and not disappoint!
Today I’ve finally motivated myself to get to work on my next Art-o-mat series. This is what it looks like to ease (sand) all twelve edges of 50 wood blocks the size of a pack of cigarettes. I’ve got 15 done so far…next is to gesso all of them…then the fun begins.
Speaking of ease, what I have come to realize about myself is that I pressure myself to hurry up and finish projects, so this year I am focusing on taking it easy on myself and taking my time to complete work. It will get there when it gets there; I’m going to stop stressing about it.
As a way to take it easy on myself - and I’m really not a resolution kind of person but - this year I am going to post on Visual Coffee Break once a week instead of two or three times. I think that will help give me more time to actually MAKE art and post quality instead of quantity (and lighten your inbox!) So far I am planning to post more of what I’m currently working on and not just show you my old stuff (although I may come across old artworks here and there that are worth your attention).
I like posting work from other artists as well and I will continue to do so. In fact, if you are a subscriber and artist, let’s collaborate! Or if you have other art ‘stacks you follow, post them in the comments for me to check out.
See you here soon and once again, thank you for following my work here on Substack - onward!
Cynthia
That’s what I do Tinabeth. I print out regular old Avery labels 2x3” and stick them to the back when finished with the art on the other side. But if you can, go m #artomat on instagram to see what other people do. Some do art on all sides (!) some people sign them. The absolute last step is wrapping them with the cellophane that is sent along. It just goes around from front to back and you tape it. Hit me up again if you have more questions!
