I’ve posted about Art-o-mat art previously (here and here) but this weekend I finally found the images I took of my very first series called “Other Worlds,” so I’m posting about it again. I’ve done five different series, but this one was my favorite so far. My husband says I should do another of this series, but man, it was SO much work! Each block is the size of a cigarette pack, and you must do a series of 50 at one time, so these comic book cutouts took me a long time to employ.
The backgrounds for this series were created using Citrasolve on old National Geographic Magazines; completely out of the control of the artist and yet so satisfying to create. I wrapped each block in the magazine paper and then added the collage elements. While it got a bit tedious working so small, I got a lot of enjoyment out of the process.
To find out where you can purchase art from these super cool, vintage vending machines, visit this Artomat page. All five of the series I’ve done have been sold and I’m planning a sixth series now which will go out sometime in 2024. However, Art-o-mat artists never know exactly when or where our art will be sold until after the fact - until we get our quarterly royalties check ($2.50 per piece) and a card with how many were sold and where. If you want to be an Art-o-mat artist, they are always in need of more art, so join the fun and check out how to participate here!
Thanks so much Ratio! 🙏🏽🔥
Lovely comic book style and thanks for the links.
